Ferrets don't live forever
I saw one friend this week who lost an 11 year old ferret. He was a beautiful albino boy, a big blockhead, not the brightest, who used to be very sweet on our Nyssa. 11 is very old for a ferret so while everyone is sad he's gone I have to say he had a very full and long life. Another friend just lost her first ferret who, I believe, was around seven years old. That's a pretty normal ferret lifespan but she's devestated anyway. We lost six in the last year, including Tenchi, our first ferret, who died of lymphosarcoma at only six years old, so I really do understand. The sad truth is that no matter how much you love your ferrets or how well you care for them they just don't live all that long.
Lady Ayeka, who turned six in May, also has lymphosarcoma, but for the moment she doesn't seem to know it. She was pouncing Chin Soon and Romana last night, chasing them, dancing around them, and, as usual, winning all the wrestling matches. I hate to think about losing her.
